How Mercari fees work

Mercari charges a flat 10% selling fee on the entire transaction — item price plus any shipping the buyer pays. If you sell a $40 item with $5 buyer-paid shipping, the fee base is $45 and Mercari takes $4.50. There is no separate payment processing fee; it is included in the 10%.

You may also pay a payout fee depending on how you withdraw your balance. Direct deposit is free but takes 3–5 business days. Instant Pay transfers funds to your debit card within 30 minutes for a flat $3 fee. A failed direct deposit recovery costs $2. This calculator auto-sets the payout fee when you pick a method in "More options."

The net payout shown here is your gross income minus the Mercari fee, payout fee, item cost, and shipping. Use it as a pricing sanity check before you publish — if your estimated payout does not cover your costs, raise your price before you list.

Mercari fee calculator FAQ

What does Mercari charge sellers?

Mercari charges a 10% selling fee on the total transaction — item price plus buyer-paid shipping. There is no listing fee. Depending on your payout method, you may also pay a withdrawal fee: Direct deposit is free, Instant Pay is $3, and a failed deposit recovery is $2.

Does Mercari charge a fee on shipping?

Yes. The 10% selling fee applies to your entire transaction amount, including the shipping amount the buyer pays. This is different from some platforms that calculate fees only on item price. If your buyer pays $5 for shipping, that $5 is in the fee base. Offering free shipping does not help — the cost just absorbs into your item price instead.

What is Mercari Instant Pay and is the $3 fee worth it?

Instant Pay sends your earnings to your debit card within 30 minutes for a $3 flat fee. Standard direct deposit is free but takes 3–5 business days. For occasional urgent payouts the fee is manageable. If you do multiple withdrawals per week, build the $3 into your pricing — it adds up fast on thin-margin items.

How do Mercari fees compare to Poshmark or eBay?

Mercari charges a flat 10% with no separate payment processing fee. Poshmark charges $2.95 on sales under $15 and 20% on sales of $15 or more — significantly higher for mid-range items. eBay charges variable final value fees (typically 12–15%) plus a payment processing fee. Use our Poshmark fee calculator or multi-platform profit calculator to compare side by side.

Can I use this Mercari calculator on mobile?

Yes. The calculator is fully responsive and works on phones and tablets. All inputs and the results panel adapt to smaller screens, so you can run a quick pricing check while you are drafting a listing in the Mercari app.
