How Depop fees work

Depop removed its standalone seller fee for US and UK sellers in 2024. Today, US and UK sellers only pay a payment processing fee through Depop Payments (powered by Stripe) — typically 3.3% plus $0.45 per transaction in the US, and 2.9% plus £0.30 in the UK. Outside those two markets, Depop still applies a 10% selling fee on top of processing, so the region you sell from materially changes your math.

A few things catch sellers off guard. First, the fee basis includes shipping you charge the buyer, not just the item price — so a $20 item with $5 shipping is taxed on $25. Second, if you use Depop's boosted listing feature to promote an item, a sale resulting from that boost adds an extra fee on top, commonly cited around 8 to 12 percent. Third, payout timing and processor (Depop Payments vs. PayPal in some regions) can shift exactly when funds land, though the fee math stays similar.

The net number above is what actually clears to your Depop balance after platform and processing fees — before you've accounted for what the item cost you, what shipping really cost you, and packaging. That's why this calculator keeps "Depop fees" and "your costs" as separate line items: the payout isn't your profit, and conflating the two is the most common reason sellers misjudge whether a listing was worth it.

Depop fee calculator FAQ

How much does Depop charge in fees?

As of 2024, Depop no longer charges a separate seller fee in the US and UK — sellers only pay a payment processing fee through Depop Payments (powered by Stripe), typically 3.3% plus $0.45 per transaction in the US and 2.9% plus £0.30 in the UK. Outside the US and UK, Depop still applies a 10% selling fee on top of processing costs. This calculator lets you pick your region so the defaults match your situation, and every rate is editable in case Depop changes its terms.

Does Depop charge fees on shipping?

Yes. Depop's processing fee is calculated on the full transaction amount, which includes both the item price and any shipping you charge the buyer. If you charge $5 shipping on a $20 item, the fee basis is $25, not $20. This calculator automatically combines item price and shipping into the fee basis so your estimate matches what Depop actually deducts from your payout.

How does Depop compare to Mercari or Poshmark for fees?

Depop is generally the cheapest of the three for US and UK sellers since it dropped its seller fee entirely in 2024, leaving only payment processing around 3.3%. Mercari charges a flat 10% selling fee plus a separate processing fee — see the Mercari Fee Calculator. Poshmark charges a flat $2.95 on sales under $15 and a 20% fee on sales $15 and up — see the Poshmark Fee Calculator. Which platform nets you more depends heavily on your price point and audience overlap.

What is a Depop boosted listing fee?

Boosting is Depop's paid promotion feature that increases a listing's visibility in the app. If a sale results from a boosted listing, Depop charges an additional fee — commonly cited around 8 to 12 percent of the sale price — on top of the standard processing fee. This calculator includes an editable boost fee field so you can model the real cost of a promoted sale before deciding whether boosting is worth it.

Can I use this Depop calculator on mobile?

Yes. The calculator is fully responsive and works on phones and tablets. All input fields and the results panel adapt to smaller screens.
