Why does shipping charged to the buyer matter for fee calculation?
Most online marketplaces — including Etsy — calculate their transaction fee on the full amount the buyer pays, which includes the shipping charge. This means that even if you charge exact shipping, you still owe a percentage of it to the platform. Entering the correct buyer-facing shipping amount ensures the platform fee estimate is accurate. If you offer free shipping, enter $0 for customer shipping and absorb the full cost in your sale price or product cost.
Can I use one set of fee rates for every sale?
